Myocardial infarction, or otherwise called as heart attack is common in patients who are obese. Sometimes it may be due to accumulation of lipids in the artery, plaque formation, stress, fat deposition etc. It finally leads to the death of heart cells and as a resultthe patient’s death rate is increasing day by day.
But recent study from the doctors of Brown university revealed that the heart patients are at increased risk of heart attacks after blood transfusions.Researchers have conducted a study with cardiac patients who have undergone blood transfusions and normal cardiac patients.

The reason behind the risk of death in cardiac patients is because of the use of anticoagulant and anti platelet drugs. Usually these drugs are given to heart patients to inhibit the coagulation and deposition of plaques etc. These drugs are so powerful that they increase bleeding in patients apart from showing its activity. As a result the patients are prone to anemia. And hence they are advised for blood transfusions.

Large transfusions are not suggestible however; there is no evidence that blood transfusions have to be discarded completely as they help in oxygen supply at the time of attacks.

It is evident from the above study that proper diet and exercise can really cure heart diseases.
